About Psychonauts

Psychonauts is a platform-adventure game developed by Double Fine Productions and released in 2005. It follows Razputin “Raz” Aquato, a young psychic who runs away from the circus to attend a summer camp for aspiring psychonauts. Players explore imaginative levels set inside the minds of different characters, each reflecting their mental states. Gameplay combines platforming, combat, and the use of psychic abilities such as telekinesis and levitation. The game was praised for its creativity, humor, and distinctive art style.

It's got real charm but the platforming sections have some genuinely janky moments that people conveniently forget when they defend its ranking so hard.

Janky platforming and I still can't put it down, my thumbs forgive it faster than my brain does.

I put it on right after a Melee session with friends and the tone shift was almost violent, in a good way.

pareil, direct après une session Melee entre potes, le contraste calme tout de suite l'ambiance compét

People act like liking this game is some niche taste but 67% win rate speaks for itself, so maybe stop pretending it needs defending against a mainstream hit.

Same here after a Melee night with friends, the mood just dropped completely... did anyone else's group go quiet like that?

The combat feels stiff compared to what came after it, but the level traversal itself holds up better than I expected.

I dip in and out of it every few years, an hour here and there, and it always keeps a solid spot for me around this range.

Funny how many of us mention playing this in short bursts with someone else nearby, says something about the pacing.

Does that mean it works better as a shared, casual thing than a sit-down marathon? that's kinda how I aproach it too honestly.

Ce qui tient encore aujourd'hui c'est la cohérence entre chaque niveau et l'esprit du personnage qu'il représente, aucun autre jeu de plateforme n'a poussé cette idée aussi loin ni avec autant de constance sur toute une aventure.
