About Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is an action-adventure game set in a reimagined late 1500s Sengoku-era Japan.

Players control Wolf, a shinobi on a mission to rescue his kidnapped lord and seek revenge on his enemies. The game emphasizes precise sword combat, stealth, and mobility, replacing traditional RPG elements with a posture-based dueling system.

Sixty nine percent win rate but ranked ninety fifth still puzzles me a little, since most games sitting near it in ELO don't carry numbers this lopsided in duels. It probably says more about who bothers to vote it in than about the game itself. Doesn't mean the placement is wrong, just that the stat alone explains less than people assume.

parries feel instant once your timing clicks in, no lag at all

  3. tiara_schowalter

The parrying system asks a lot from you before it gives anything back. Once it clicks it's genuinely great, but that wall at the start turns a lot of people away for good.

Ese muro inicial es real, muy real, y a mí me dejó fuera del todo antes de darme nada a cambio.

Yo lo dejé a medio camino ese invierno, y no pienso volver.

combat's brilliant, the story mode never grabbed me the same way

Un ratio de victoires en duel ne mesure pas la qualité, juste la ferveur de ceux qui votent encore pour lui.

    QuestLegend2

the story mode is barely there though

"grabbed me" ha, it grabbed my controller across the room a few times

Yeah I'll admit it upfront, I vote for it in basically every duel it gets, biased as I am, and I don't plan on stopping.

À côté des autres jeux du genre de la même période, celui là demande un engagement que peu osent proposer.

Compared to something like Breath of the Wild, the commitment asked here is a completely different kind of demanding, and that alone explains a lot of the split opinions.

ok so, 69% win rate in duels and it still sits at 16th, something's off there... this game rewired how I think about combat in general, the parry timing alone deserves more respect than it gets

    dominique_rolland

Ça m'a occupé un automne entier aussi, mais est ce que ce fameux ratio de victoires reflète vraiment autre chose que la ferveur des fans qui reviennent voter dessus ?

    barton_alaina

I hear you on the parry timing but honestly I bounced off it three separate times, the rewiring never happened for me, it just stayed frustrating from start to finish
