Control is a third-person action-adventure game set in the Federal Bureau of Control, a secretive U.S. government agency that studies paranormal phenomena. Players control Jesse Faden, who arrives at the Bureau's headquarters, the Oldest House, to find it invaded by a hostile force called the Hiss. Gameplay combines supernatural abilities with a shape-shifting firearm, and the environment is reactive and destructible.

200th and still losing ground against the same three or four games every time. Why does this keep getting overrated for its "atmosphere" when the actual combat loop is repetitive after the fifth hour?

Same enemy types the whole way?

Which fifth hour are we talking about, because mine got better around then, what boss wore you down exactly?

played this right after a bad breakup, remember zoning out for hours in that building

the shooting feels floaty and the loot system adds nothing, just padding

The votes here keep pitting it against narrative heavyweights, which skews things unfairly against a game that's actually about mood and space.

I played through it during a really rainy week when I had nothing else going on, and I remember getting stuck on the same enemy type for way too long. The environment was cool for about an hour then it started blending together, hallway after hallway of the same concrete.
