People act like brutal automatically means good, but here the mechanics actually back it up. So why does it keep losing duels against games with half the depth?

The Last of Us Part II is an action-adventure game set five years after the events of The Last of Us. The player traverses post-apocalyptic environments such as buildings and forests to advance the story. They can use firearms, improvised weapons, and stealth to defend against hostile humans and cannibalistic creatures infected by a mutated strain of the Cordyceps fungus. The game intermittently switches control between Ellie and Abby, and also briefly Joel in the opening sequence. The nimble nature of the player character introduces platforming elements, allowing the player to jump and climb to traverse environments and gain advantages during combat.

Sur ce coup je rejoins l'idée du poids plutôt que du rythme, mais face à Resident Evil 4 la comparaison ne tient pas longtemps non plus.

Played it alone at night with headphones on, and I didn't touch my phone once the whole time.

Went through a rough breakup the same month this came out and ended up putting way more hours into it than I probably should have, just sitting with the atmosphere and not rushing through anything. It stuck with me more than most games from that whole year.

Ese año fue duro para todos, y este juego acompañó a más gente de lo que parece.

Face à Uncharted 4 il perd en légèreté, mais aucun des deux jeux de cette liste n'a cette intensité.

I put it right up against Uncharted 4 in terms of polish, but the tone couldn't be more different, and that's exactly why it holds up 140th feels low for how well the combat systems still play today.

I get the polish argument, but I'm not sure 140th is really that low when you look at how divisive the pacing is for a lot of players.

the combat holding up is exactly why I still bring it up in these duels, 140th undersells how tight the systems feel

A mí me tocó justo saliendo de una mudanza complicada, y ese ritmo lento fue lo único que me hizo bien esas semanas, no lo veo como debilidad.

Uncharted 4 wins on tone alone for me, the polish argument only goes so far.

Anyone else remember finishing this right when everything shut down and having way too much time to sit with how heavy it felt afterward? I played it slower than any game before or since, just because I didn't have anywhere else to be. Not sure if that shaped my opinion of it or not, honestly.

Ce genre de souvenir me parle, moi c'était juste après un déménagement compliqué, et ce jeu m'a occupé bien plus que prévu ces semaines-là.
