About Metro 2033

Metro 2033 is a first-person shooter with survival horror elements, based on the Russian book of the same name by Dmitry Glukhovsky. Most of the game takes place underground, but several times Artyom will have to venture outside, into the perpetual nuclear winter. Game progression is fairly linear, though areas may be explored more thoroughly for items and ammunition. Setpieces include a few on-rails sequences, missions that involve defending a location from an onslaught of monsters, and others. A few stages can be completed in a stealthy fashion.

What strikes me about this game is how the atmosphere does the heavy lifting even when the mechanics themselves are pretty basic. The shooting isn't refined at all, but the tension in the tunnels makes up for it more than people give it credit for.

Only put a few hours in over the years, never finished it, but even that little was enough to see why people rate the tunnels so highly.

Con solo un par de horas ya intuyes lo que se siente, imagina cargar con ese frío durante toda la aventura.

Même en quelques heures ça marque à ce point, tu penses que ça tiendrait un jeu entier de la même intensité ?

This game still gives me chills, easily one of my favorites ever!!

The atmosphere really is the SELLING point here, I remember holding my breath in those tunnel sections more than in most horror games I've played.

chez moi c'était pareil, sauf que le frisson venait plus de l'angoisse de manquer de munitions que des mutants eux-mêmes.

    Chills every time, same here.

What makes it work is the sound design carrying the tension when nothing is even happening, most horror games lean on jump scares and this one just lets silence do the work.

Bon, the win rate says more about the voters sticking around than the game climbing on its own.
