It's 96th. Ninety-sixth. This game reinvented an entire genre and people rank it below stuff that copied its homework.

A 3D exploration-focused metroidvania with first-person shooting mechanics and the first 3D entry in the Metroid series, Metroid Prime follows Samus Aran after the events of Metroid (1986) as she boards a Space Pirate frigate, then chases her escaping archrival Ridley into the intricately structured Tallon IV, a planet full of deadly wildlife and former home to the advanced and ancient Chozo race.

Same fight every duel cycle, same complaints, same defenders, and honestly I still show up and vote for it every single time anyway.

The scan visor turning exploration into actual information gathering still holds up, way more than most modern lore-dump systems.

I remember getting the scan visor and just standing there scanning everything in the room, probably wasted an hour on my first playthrough alone. I think that pace is what stuck with me the most, more than the boss fights honestly.

Rented it on a whim one weekend and ended up buying my own copy within the month.

Cada dos meses aparece alguien diciendo lo mismo sobre el visor de escaneo y honestamente ya ni me sorprende, sigue siendo de lo mejor que tiene el genero.

I played this right after finishing Super Metroid on a rental, back to back over a weekend, and going from 2D to fully walking around Tallon IV in first person felt like stepping into a different medium entirely, my brother just watched most of the second day.

I loved Tallon IV too honestly, spent way too long just scanning random pirate logs, but the pacing dips hard once you're deep into backtracking for the last few items.

Weekend rental here too, never finished it though.

Playing it right after Super Metroid must have made the movement shift stand out even more than for me.
