Still one of the tightest shooters out there. Nothing about the gunplay feels outdated to me, the recoil, the sound cues, the pacing between rounds, it all…

Counter-Strike is a team-based multiplayer tactical first-person shooter in which players join either the Terrorist or Counter-Terrorist side and compete in objective-based rounds. The primary game modes involve bomb defusal and hostage rescue, played across designated maps. Players purchase weapons and equipment between rounds using money earned from eliminations and completed objectives, and eliminated players must wait until the next round to respawn. Originally a fan-made modification for Half-Life created by Minh Le and Jess Cliffe in 1999, it was acquired by Valve and released as a standalone retail product in 2000, becoming one of the most influential first-person shooters and spawning multiple sequels including Counter-Strike: Source, Global Offensive, and Counter-Strike 2.

Still one of the tightest shooters out there. Nothing about the gunplay feels outdated to me, the recoil, the sound cues, the pacing between rounds, it all still holds up when you sit down and actually play it instead of just talking about it. People rank it low and then load it up the same week.

A mí me pasó al revés, empecé por este con mis primos y cuando probé Half-Life 2 lo sentí lento, casi aburrido en comparación.

People keep dragging Half-Life 2 into every comparison here, and it drives me up the wall because they're not even trying to do the same thing. One gives you a story to walk through, the other gives you a round to win with four other people watching your every move. Ranking them against each other like this misses the point completely.

Oh sure, 303rd place, truly the throne of a legend still standing tall.

It nails tension between rounds better than almost anything else in the genre, though the learning curve punishes newcomers pretty hard.

Dices que la curva es dura para quien llega hoy, pero entonces ¿por qué sigue ganando tantos duelos si supuestamente espanta a los nuevos? Algo no cuadra ahí, o al menos eso pienso yo, sin ánimo de discutir mucho más.

I've put around 900 hours into this over the years and I still think it's underrated at this spot. The economy system alone forces decisions every round that most modern shooters never ask of you. People vote based on graphics and forget that tension between rounds is a mechanic in itself.
