Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! is the second game in the Spyro the Dragon series. In this game, Spyro is placed in the land of Avalar rather than the Dragon Worlds. Gameplay flows like the original game Spyro the Dragon, with few variations in control and Spyro's main abilities intact. The only notable difference is the removal of Spyro's side-rolling ability, previously activated by L1 and R1.

blaming portal 2 for existing feels like a stretch, that game earned its spot with actual design, not nostalgia goggles

Beats it in 62% of duels though. Doesn't that count for something? Puzzle boxes are great but they don't have this kind of staying power for everyone

Comparing this to Odyssey feels almost unfair because they're doing such different things, but honestly this one still holds a special place for me! Mario has the polish, sure, but Avalar has the charm that stuck with me forever!!

I keep seeing this ranked below stuff like Enslaved or Little Nightmares and I just don't get it, honestly. Those games are moody and atmospheric and all that, sure, but this one actually lets you fly around and break things and feel good doing it. Ripto's Rage deserves way more respect than 498th, I'm sorry, that number just feels wrong to me every time I check it.

My cousin and I used to trade the controller every time we died in a level, that game never once felt like a chore.

Funny thing is I got into this the same summer I was obsessed with Portal 2, total opposite moods but I kept switching between them and neither one lost my attention.

I picked this one back up during a slow week off work and got hooked again on gliding around collecting stuff, that part still feels great honestly. The combat though is really basic once you notice it, you just headbutt or fire at things until they stop moving. It's charming for what it is but I wouldn't call it deep, the exploration carries the whole experience for me.

I replayed it last month specifically to test this claim, and Portal's puzzle design just has more depth per minute than anything here.

Recuerdo pasar tardes enteras con este juego cuando era más chico, mucho más tiempo del que le dediqué a otros títulos de la época que ahora todos alaban más. Comparado con lo que se hablaba de Mario en ese entonces, para mí este tenía más personalidad y más ganas de explorar cada rincón.
