Compared to StarCraft II this feels like a relic in terms of pacing, and I say that as someone who respects what it did back then, the AI in campaign missions is still frustratingly passive and the balance holes get exposed fast once you play anyone competitive.

played a match last week, forgot how satisfying the wall building is (my friend still hates me for it), holds up way better than i expected

342 duels and 80 percent wins says this ranking is not an accident.

Numbers aside, this is the same game that got me and my roommate through an entire winter of ranked matches instead of studying.

played this on and off for yrs with my college roommate, never got as into it as ppl online seem to be, still remember the villager micromanagement fondly tho
Eloisa_40
Fair enough for the roommate part, but calling the micromanagement fondly remembered doesn't erase how tedious it gets past hour two.

Comparing it to Command & Conquer always feels weird to me because the two games basically wanted different things, one loved chaos and explosions while this one loved patience and economy, and somehow both worked for their own crowd back then.
