What holds up for me is the writing pace, every episode ends at a point where you actually need to stop and think about what you just did, and that structure is the reason people still bring it up years later even when the mechanics themselves are basic.

So I replayed this last year expecting it to feel dated, and the choices still land even when you know some barely change the plot, the character writing carries the weak spots without much trouble.
