Compared to something like God of War, the combat here is thin, but the game isn't trying to win that fight, it's trying something else entirely.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice is a single-player action-adventure game set in a dark fantasy world inspired by Norse mythology and Celtic culture. Players control Senua, a Pict warrior who journeys into the Norse underworld to rescue the soul of her dead lover from the goddess Hela. The game blends melee combat, puzzle solving, and psychological horror, with Senua's psychosis shaping how the world is perceived, including voices that provide guidance or attempt to mislead the player.
The game was developed by a team of around twenty people and features no heads-up display or tutorials. Instead, audio cues from voices in Senua's head guide the player through combat and environmental challenges. The portrayal of psychosis was developed in collaboration with neuroscientists and people who experience the condition.

I played it alone at night with headphones and it completely changed how I felt about it.

Same feeling here, alone, headphones on, and the comparison to bigger games just stopped mattering...

et voilà, dans le fond ce combat de rangement dit surtout que les votes le mettent en face de mastodontes qui n'ont rien à voir

Rejoué récemment sans le casque et sans le noir total, l'effet retombe d'un coup.

Sure, ranked below Arkham Asylum, because combos matter more than psychosis apparently

Fair point, but the vote counts still show it holding its own agaisnt games built for spectacle first.

People act like six hors of headphone paranoia is a joke but it genuinely messed with my head for days afterward, not something I laugh about now.

Claro, porque la psicosis se mide en combos ahora (mi sobrino también pensaba eso y tiene doce años).

Played it right after a rough breakup and the whole descent felt uncomfortably close to home for a while.

It's short, or rather compact, and that works in its favor most of the time.

Everyone praises the atmosphere but nobody mentions how repetitive some of those puzzle sections get after the third temple.
