The atmosphere and the station design are genuinely excellent, probably some of the best environmental storytelling in the genre for that era. My issue is the back half, where the pacing sags and a lot of backtracking starts feeling like padding rather than tension.

The environmental storytelling got me too, though I'd take the station over anything Doom offers on that front, it just breathes differently.

same here, the vents stuck with me more than the boss fights ever did

Undertale beats it in some polls and that's fine, they're not even trying to do the same thing.

Ppl keep comparing it to Bioshock Infinite like it's some huge insult when honestly the comparison does Prey a favor most of the time.

Doom's pacing never sags like that, but Prey's systems run deeper than anything Infinite tried to do.

It's a good game but the constant backtracking wears you down after the halfway point honestly.

Le backtracking dont tu parles, moi je l'ai vécu comme une raison de rester, j'y ai passé des soirées entières à explorer chaque recoin, perso ça change tout.

Reminds me of my own first playthrough actually, I stopped noticing the backtracking because I was too busy hoarding every scrap I could find.

Doom never lets you get tired lol

honestly the hoarding thing wore me out fast, i ended up dreading every new room instead of enjoying it.
