Next to something like L.A. Noire, the investigation depth just isn't comparable, this stays pretty surface level by contrast.
It's fun for what it is, but compared to Layton it feels thinner on actual puzzle mechanics, more about reading than thinking. The courtroom drama carries it, sure, but as a genre exercise it leans way more on writing than on player skill.
It doesn't hit like Uncharted 2 in terms of spectacle, obviously different eras and goals, but the level design still teaches you something new almost every stage, which a lot of modern platformers forget to do once the mechanics are established early.
