The Evil Within 2 is the latest evolution of survival horror. Detective Sebastian Castellanos has lost it all. But when given a chance to save his daughter, he must descend once more into the nightmarish world of STEM.

Why does this always end up compared to Skyrim or Witcher 3 in these duels? Different genre entirely, no? Feels like an unfair fight from the start.

Unfair fight, maybe, but why do people even bring Skyrim into a horror discussion?

People keep putting it against Skyrim and Witcher 3 like it's supposed to win on scale, but that's not the game it's trying to be, it plays a much tighter and more controlled experience than either of those open worlds ever attempt, closer in spirit to something like Dark Souls where every encounter is deliberate rather than sprawling, and judged on those terms it holds up fine.

Là où Skyrim ou The Witcher 3 te lâchent dans un monde ouvert et te laissent te débrouiller, celui-ci te tient par la nuque du début à la fin. Ce n'est pas un défaut, c'est juste un autre projet, plus proche d'un Dark Souls dans la tension permanente que d'un RPG à explorer tranquillement.

Je l'ai fait avec mon fils qui regardait derrière moi, il a fini par vouloir tenir la manette aux moments calmes seulement.
