It's fine, but calling it essential feels generous when the whole hook is just a coin counter.

Watching it lose duels against Odyssey every time isn't surprising, the gap in ambition shows up in the votes. Still curious how it keeps a decent win rate overall, must be the casual crowd who just wants something easy and familiar to click on.

so i bought this thing mostly because i had a long flight coming up and figured mario is mario right well turns out chasing a million coins for six hours straight in economy class is a special kind of madness i do not recommend but also would do again

I get the nostalgia angle but for me the coin gimmick just never justified itself, even back then it felt like padding.

Calling it a different category feels harsh, coins aside the core platforming holds up fine against both.
