About Donkey Kong Country Returns

Under the influence of a group of evil Tikis, the animals of Donkey Kong Island have raided Donkey Kong's banana hoard and stolen his stash of bananas - and being an ape of large appetites he understandably wants them back. Good thing that you are along for the ride. With Donkey Kong Country Returns, Retro Studios brings Donkey Kong back to a banana and platforming hungry public in a new side-scrolling adventure with familiar characters and new levels that reignite the passion players had for the Super NES original and all things Donkey Kong.

It nails the platforming feel most of the time, though a handful of levels lean so hard on trial and error that the fun drains out fast. Still worth playing…

It nails the platforming feel most of the time, though a handful of levels lean so hard on trial and error that the fun drains out fast. Still worth playing, just pace yourself and don't marathon it.

pour moi le vrai sujet c'est pas la difficulté du jeu mais la façon dont on note aujourd'hui les vieux platformers, on est plus sévère qu'avant sur l'essai erreur et ça pèse sur son elo.

The checkpoint placement in some levels feels punishing rather than fair, and that alone drags down an otherwise solid platformer for me.

    Paola_1997

No solo el checkpoint, todo el ritmo del nivel se resiente cuando castiga así.

    QuestBard

I felt the same about checkpoints, though on Wii U the extra life help mitigated it a bit compared to how brutal it must have felt originally.

the elo here feels off, or maybe im just used to seeing it ranked higher

Ben si, l'elo est cohérent, pas décalé.

    SaveLegend2

The elo feels about right to me honestly, this genre just doesn't get the same love in duels these days.

The controls feel tight and responsive, way better than I expected going in.

    LootNinja2

And yet my controller never felt tight, it felt stiff in the mine parts specifically.

I picked it up during a slow winter with nothing else going on and expected a quick distraction, but the mine cart levels made me quit for weeks at a time out of pure frustration.

    PixelPilot62

You all keep blaming the mine carts, but was the rest of the game really that forgiving either?

    LuckyKid

funny you say frustration, would you still rank it above Sonic 2 today?

fr, it earned that spot, some ppl just remember the frustration more than the good stuff.
