It nails the platforming feel most of the time, though a handful of levels lean so hard on trial and error that the fun drains out fast. Still worth playing, just pace yourself and don't marathon it.
Loot_Sanchez
Iron_Mitchell
The checkpoint placement in some levels feels punishing rather than fair, and that alone drags down an otherwise solid platformer for me.
Paola_1997
QuestBard
I felt the same about checkpoints, though on Wii U the extra life help mitigated it a bit compared to how brutal it must have felt originally.
Rogue_Powlowski
the elo here feels off, or maybe im just used to seeing it ranked higher
mbarre
SaveLegend2
The elo feels about right to me honestly, this genre just doesn't get the same love in duels these days.
LootMaster83
The controls feel tight and responsive, way better than I expected going in.
LootNinja2
And yet my controller never felt tight, it felt stiff in the mine parts specifically.

I picked it up during a slow winter with nothing else going on and expected a quick distraction, but the mine cart levels made me quit for weeks at a time out of pure frustration.
PixelPilot62
You all keep blaming the mine carts, but was the rest of the game really that forgiving either?
LuckyKid
funny you say frustration, would you still rank it above Sonic 2 today?
NovaHunter
Replying to LuckyKid
fr, it earned that spot, some ppl just remember the frustration more than the good stuff.
McClure30
beat this back in a weekend rental, still one of the tightest platformers i know
TurboPhoenix2006
Alfonso_1993
The MINE CART levels ruin an otherwise solid game.
Sienna_67
Sonic 2 rewards fast reflexes and gets it over quickly, this one asks for patience through long stretches of tricky platforming, and honestly I respect the patience more even if I had less fun in the moment.

Justina_31
My roommate and I traded off controllers every time one of us died, which happened constantly in the mine sections, and somehow that made it better.
GlitchWolf
And yet nobody talks about how these duels against Sonic 2 keep swinging both ways every time.
NovaMaster
People keep pitting this against Portal 2 in duels and it never feels like a fair matchup, one is a puzzle box and the other is pure reflex punishment.
Jacques_85
LaurySniper
I hit the same wall with the boss fights, they just don't match the polish of the regular levels at all.
GlitchSniper98
