Was it the hunger management or actual combat that broke you, because those age very differently

I picked this up during a slow winter myself and something about the tone just matched perfectly.

The crafting loop is satisfying early on, but once you know the seasons the whole thing becomes repetitive. Still worth playing though.
SilentRunner

Oh no, a repetitive survival game, truly unprecedented in the entire history of the genre

The repetition after learning the seasons is real, but the way it forces you to plan ahead is exactly what kept me coming back for more runs

Compared to Far Cry 2, this feels way harsher, no gun just does the job, you actually have to think.

Compared to Hades the pacing is completely different, or actually not completely, more like inverted, Hades rewards speed and aggression while this rewards patience and planning ahead for seasons, and honestly once you accept that it's not trying to be an action game the whole experience clicks better.
