Spent a whole rainy weekend just trying to survive one winter, didn't manage it.

    SilentKid2003

    ComboByte

Was it the hunger management or actual combat that broke you, because those age very differently

  2. Makenna_60

I picked this up during a slow winter myself and something about the tone just matched perfectly.

  3. Pagac35

The crafting loop is satisfying early on, but once you know the seasons the whole thing becomes repetitive. Still worth playing though.

    SilentRunner

Oh no, a repetitive survival game, truly unprecedented in the entire history of the genre

    TurboPlayer2007

The repetition after learning the seasons is real, but the way it forces you to plan ahead is exactly what kept me coming back for more runs

    IrenePlayer

  4. Alfonso_1993

Compared to Far Cry 2, this feels way harsher, no gun just does the job, you actually have to think.

    SilentDragon

  5. AllieRider

Compared to Hades the pacing is completely different, or actually not completely, more like inverted, Hades rewards speed and aggression while this rewards patience and planning ahead for seasons, and honestly once you accept that it's not trying to be an action game the whole experience clicks better.

My roommate screamed when a spider ambushed him at night, I still bring it up sometimes.

    ArcadeBard

Same kind of night here, my brother jumped so hard he knocked his drink over, we still laugh about the mess it made on the carpet

  7. PixelKnight

People act like this game invented survival crafting but the real reason it's here is the art style, it's SO good, that hand drawn tim burton vibe still doesn't have an equal, I don't care what rank it gets I'll defend it forever!

    Jacques_85

  8. ArcadeOwl

Went back to it after years away and the survival loop still holds up fine, but next to Hades the combat just feels stiff and slow, there's no real feedback when you hit something, it's more about resource math than reflexes, which is a different kind of game but it shows when you switch between the two.

    Harvey73

You mentioned switching between the two, does the combat ever click for you or does it stay clunky the whole way through?

    LuckyNinja

    Madyson_88

Combat feeling stiff next to Hades doesn't kill it for me, the survival math is the actual game here

    Reilly2010

    Fair take, same experience here.

  9. CoopKnight4

First week I played it was during exam season, terrible decision but I don't regret it.

  10. LootNinja25

Died to a hound pack on day three, rage quit, never fully forgave the game for it.

    LuckyHunter

Rage quitting doesn't tell us much about where it sits, plenty of top-ranked games do that too

    rossi_celina

  11. LuckyLegend1984

303rd feels about right honestly, it's good but not the survival masterpiece some claim.

    FramePlayer

Funny you say that, I remember dying on day three too, almost quit right there myself.

    RogueSniper

303rd with 55% winrate against tough company is nothing to scoff at, this game holds its own fine.

    Rocky_24

    Replying to FramePlayer

Almost quitting on day three seems to be a rite of passage here, does everyone eventually push past it or do most just drop it

  12. PixelKid

Cet automne j'ai passé mes soirées à essayer de survivre à l'hiver, et j'ai jamais réussi.

    claire72

Never beating winter is basically the whole point, that struggle is what makes finally surviving one feel amazing!

  13. Ibáñez5

    SilentLegend

Cult of the Lamb charme plus vite mais s'essouffle plus tôt aussi, wait, this one keeps punishing you long after the other stopped trying
