191st, 70 percent win rate, and we still argue about it every season like it's news. It deserves better honestly.

    Eloisa_40

70 percent win rate doesn't mean much when it's mostly beating up jeux that aren't even in its own genre.

I never got into the story much myself, but I remember losing entire evenings just to the pursuits alone, which says something.

    Audrey_55

Fair, though I still think GTA IV outclasses it in maybe 3 different ways.

    VinylOwl

deserves better than GTA IV honestly

    GhostSamurai

Oh no, 191st, what a tragedy, truly the game is suffering in the dungeon of respectable mid-table rankings while we all weep for it

    Ibáñez5

  2. ArcadeAce4

People act like this ranking is some injustice but 423 duels and 70 percent says the votes are pretty consistent over time. It's not top ten material and it doesn't need to be, it just needs to keep winning the duels it's actually built for.

    NeonKnight12

You guys realize GTA IV and this don't even compete for the same itch, right? One's a sandbox, this is pure pursuit adrenaline.

    BossNinja1986

Fair point about the itch being different, but does that mean the ranking comparison itself is pointless?

  4. Donato_1990

The pursuit tech in this thing still holds up, the way heat escalates FEELS earned rather than scripted. Framerate dips on PC ports are the only real blemish I can point to after all these years.

  5. frida_sawayn

My kid found this on an old drive and now begs for pursuit mode every weekend, you'd think it was brand new the way he reacts.

    Gamboa25

  6. NeonKid94

Cop chases still hit hard, the escalation alone makes every getaway feel earned, and the soundtrack still slaps when the heat rises... but the story mode is forgettable and I always end up skipping every cutscene by the third city takedown.

    ReggieLegend

The soundtrack point is real but let's be honest, ranking-wise it survives on pursuits alone, cutscenes never factored into any vote I've seen.

  7. QuestRunner25

Okay so I keep coming back to this one every couple years, not sure why, maybe it's the soundtrack, maybe it's just muscle memory at this point... anyway it deserves more respect than 191st.

Rented it one weekend, the cop AI rubber-banded so hard I gave up by Sunday.

    thompson_raleigh

My daughter rage quits the cop chases every single weekend and comes back an hour later, guess the AI still frustrates the same way it always did.

    UlicesByte

Rubber-banding AI, that takes me back, my copy did the exact same thing on a rainy weekend I barely remember now.

people keep comparing this to gta but its a totally different lane, one's about cars one's about everything else

    Álvaro_72

The heat system alone deserves a medal honestly

    GhostKid27

Nostalgia is fine but I clocked maybe 40 hours total across two saves and the chases got repetitive way before the story did, if that says anything.

  11. roob_joe

Best cop chases in the genre, easy.

    Vinyl_Alfonso

  12. NovaOwl

I get why people love it, I really do, the chase mechanic was genuinely inventive for its time, but comparing its ranking to the GTA games it keeps drawing feels like apples to oranges every single time this debate comes up here.
