I keep coming back to this one every couple of years, not out of obligation but because the sense of discovery still works on me even now, and I think that's rare enough to count for something, especially when you put it next to something like Red Dead Redemption where everything is mapped out for you from the start.

Against the grain
The games NovaOwl made win while the ranking backed the other one:
- The Jackbox Party Pack 4 13%
- DLC Quest 13%
- MediEvil II 16%
- Dead Island: Riptide 19%
- The Isle 19%
The percentage is the chance the ranking gave that game at the time of the vote. The lower it is, the more unexpected the pick was.

It nails the pacing better than most, though the back half leans hard on backtracking that some people love and some don't.
Tone alone feels like a weird bar honestly, and it kind of proves the point that people keep comparing instead of judging this on its own thing.
