QuestOwl2008
Wait, does the fighting feel that stiff to everyone, or just when you're used to something faster? I remember not even caring at the time.
hamon_dominique
Face à Skyrim, 495e me semble juste. Pas plus, pas moins.
ziemann_eudora
I barely remember the plot now, just the feeling of being somewhere far from home, and that alone makes me want to defend it a little.
Coop_Ferrer

Same here, same summer, same lost hours
PixelOwl1997
Guilin still shows up in my head sometimes, out of nowhere, years later.
SilentRunner
PixelPilot2

Just one afternoon, and yet here we are years later still typing about it, funny how that works, did it hit you the same way after?
VinylOwl
Next to something like Psychonauts it plays a completely different game, slower, quieter, and honestly that's what keeps me coming back to it...

Nostalgia aside, the game still asks a lot of patience from people who never got to grow up with it.
GhostBard9
I showed a bit of Guilin to my daughter once, just to see her reaction, and she asked more questions than I had answers for.
Bayer15
Only put in maybe fifteen hours total, spread over a summer, but the streets stuck with me longer than the story did.
LuckyLegend2
Every time it comes up against something bigger it loses, and yet here it still is, still climbing back...
GhostPhoenix
CosmoFox2
The world building is genuinely something else, the streets feel lived in rather than decorated, but the combat never quite catches up to the ambition around it.
ArcadeKnight
NeonFox2
I get what you mean about wandering without direction, though I'd say that aimlessness is sort of the whole appeal if you're patient with it.
Adelbert_90
wandering was the whole point tbh, not everything needs a payoff to matter
Turbo_Dietrich
A couple afternoons, or rather one long one, still counts
CoopPhoenix2010
IronKnight2004
Ryo's story hit harder when my friends and I traded turns on the same save
SaveHunter
Forty duels is a lot of loyalty for one game, I'll admit I've never counted mine, do you actually remember which ones you lost?
Monroe_68
Y sigue ganando en lo que importa.
CoopRider
Compared to something like Skyrim, the pacing here feels almost stubborn, everything slows down on purpose, and that's the whole point people miss.
GlitchBard3
The atmosphere carries alot of it, the side characters and their little routines especially, though the fighting itself feels stiff compared to the exploration.
Kihn76
The fighting stiffness you mention stuck with me too, but the market stalls and daily chatter made up for it every time.
GhostByte2
feil_oma
tbh maybe, but it earned some of that reputation imo.
CaitlynOwl
Everyone calls it a masterpiece but I remember mostly asking sailors for directions.
