    Audrey_55

I never finished it either honestly, just the parts everyone talks about, and that's plenty for me.

    meza_dario

    Corwin18

Somehow this always turns into a ranking argument instead of just people saying what they liked.

Surprise or not it still gets picked in duel after duel, that says something on its own

  3. CoopRider2008

    NeonSniper

Same, I still think about a specific hallway more than the ending itself.

    ReggieLegend

Replayed it 2 weeks ago, writing holds, controls don't

  5. GlitchOwl95

    BossOwl1995

yeah that boss fight breaks everyone the first time

  6. Lopes69

    ArcadeWarden2

The camera holding you back is the whole reason those rooms still feel tense... modern games would just show you everything.

    NovaOwl

That alarm chaos sounds exactly like my first run, alarms everywhere, panic everywhere, and somehow it still worked.

    ArcadeAce4

Same alarms, same panic... mine happened during a sleepover, everyone yelling directions at the screen.

  7. LaurySniper

I played it at a friend's place over a weekend, we took turns and mostly just watched the cutscenes together, honestly the actual sneaking parts felt slow compared to what I was used to, we ended up skipping ahead just to see what happened next, it's the story I remember, not really the gameplay itself

    ArcadeOwl

Still boots up fine, that's real staying power.

  8. SammieDragon

I'll always rate it above Uncharted 4 in terms of pure atmosphere, even if I know that's the fan in me talking

  9. EmileWarden

Story hits harder than the stealth ever does, and that's fine by me

    ElainaPilot

Story does hit harder. The stealth just sets the stage for it.

    AbdullahKnight

Story over stealth, stealth over story, same argument every time, doesn't change the votes much.

Yeah, story over stealth, or actually both work because neither gets in the other's way. I've made my peace with that.

    felipe30

Exactly, it earned it, people forget how rare that is for something this old to still win duels!

  11. Celia_44

    FrameRex2

Turns by death, huh, my brother and I tried that once and it turned into an argument about whose death counted.

  12. Matteo_2007

The camera angle forces you to read the room instead of the enemy directly, which sounds like a limitation but it teaches spatial awareness in a way most modern cover shooters skip entirely, the radar compensates just enough without holding your hand fully, and honestly the animation priority on Snake's movement still reads clean frame by frame

    NeonRider

    Irma_76

I got stuck on that same fight for what felt like forever, my roommate walked in, watched five minutes, and just started laughing at me.

  13. Brice_86

number 3 feels about right honestly, not saying its the goat but the win rate speaks for itself, 778 duels and still holding

  14. CosmoSniper3

Would it even hold up in a straight stealth duel against RESIDENT EVIL 4 today, or does everyone just assume it wins because of reputation?

    Cortez_1998

Reputation carries it into the duel, sure, but does it actually hold the lead once people vote on the fight itself?

  15. QuestRex5

But has anyone actually sat down and asked why it keeps winning so many duels instead of just assuming it's nostalgia talking?

    NovaAce2

not really, the win rate already answers that question better than any argument here could
