I felt the same about checkpoints, though on Wii U the extra life help mitigated it a bit compared to how brutal it must have felt originally.

It sits where it should on the list, not higher, not lower (people forget how many games it inspired though), and that alone should count for something in these debates.
Solid game, sure, but this high...I'm not fully convinced it earns it over some of what it's matched against.
