NeonSniper
I had the same setup with my roommate years ago, one of us always ended up doing the shooting while the other picked apart every weapon stat out loud.
JazlynMaster
My kid does the same thing now, comments on every gun while I handle the actual shooting.
QuestDragon93
Screen comparing, right? Did the game actually hold up once the novelty wore off for you two?
FrameLegend2010
NovaMaster2
The humor complaint is fair honestly, some of it just doesn't land anymore.
Ghost_Botsford
Same here, the missions started blending together after a while, though the visuals still made it worth pushing through.
edwardo_schulist
Why does everyone compare this to Skyrim when the scope is so different? Isn't it more honest to judge it against something with actual RPG choices, like Dragon Age or The Witcher 2?
harber_cordia
"Lost interest completely" pretty much matches my own experience with the early hours, it just doesn't hook everyone the same way.

davis_lelah
I picked this up during a slow week at work and burned through the first zone in two sittings before losing interest completely.
Vergie_62
Two sittings then quitting for good, was it the loot or just the grind that killed it for you?

Same kind of split screen setup here, my sister called every weapon too, it's funny how common that memory seems to be.
hamon_dominique
RogueKnight1986
Borrowed a copy from my cousin during a rough semester and never gave it back, still feel a little bad about that honestly.
ArcadeOwl
Replayed it last year with a controller from a modern setup and the shooting still feels tight, better than most people give it credit for.
Gonzalez2008
VinylRex
Wasn't it seen as the underdog back then, before people started ranking it against those bigger titles at all?
BossPilot2
NovaOwl
Inventing the loop is one thing, but did it ever really refine it, or did later games just do the same thing better?
Moral2003
En respuesta a VinylRex
Underdog total, sí...
Combo_Goldner
Loot as the engine, fair, though against Dragon Age the writing gap really shows once the guns stop being novel.
FramePlayer
The bigger question is whether Skyrim or Dragon Age even belong in the same bracket as this.
GhostPhoenix
Alfonso_1993
The interface always gets me
WallaceKnight
Interface never gave you trouble? Not even when you're switching weapons mid-fight against multiple enemies?

Similar story for me actually, picked it up on a whim (after seeing a friend play) and the guns kept me around way longer than the story did.
QuestBard
It sits where it should on the list, not higher, not lower (people forget how many games it inspired though), and that alone should count for something in these debates.
ChaddOwl
I keep coming back to this one, not because it's perfect, far from it, but because the way loot drops keep you moving from one fight to the next is something a lot of newer games try to replicate and just don't quite nail, even with better graphics and bigger budgets.
Max_1984
That loop is exactly why I still rank it above stuff with flashier graphics, no contest there.
LootSamurai87
Loot chasing you back in, sure, but wasn't that exact loop already feeling dated even at launch?
ArcadeHunter
ArcadeLegend3
Fair take on coop
CoopRunner
Coop with my brother is exactly why I still rank it decently, that alone earned it a spot for me.
QuestLegend2
I get that coop argument every single duel, funny how it keeps showing up, votes swing hard on nostalgia alone honestly
Iron_Shields
Does anyone actually replay this outside of nostalgia, or is it just sitting on reputation at this point?
Frame_Rippin
booted this up on a whim last month, forgot how satisfying the weapon variety actually is
