SammieDragon
I get why people bring up the pacing but honestly this whole duel obsession undervalues what actually holds up decade after decade.
Frame_Rippin
irregular how exactly? which part dragged for you, the middle stretch or the last few levels?
VinylPhoenix
Hortense_24
I was so hooked that I skipped a family dinner to keep playing, which got me in SERIOUS trouble, but honestly looking back I regret nothing about that choice at all, not one bit.
JazlynMaster
my daughter picked it up after seeing it mentioned online and gave up before the second level, so trouble finding it isn't unique to your son
AbdullahKnight
Honestly the regret thing always makes me laugh a bit, we all say that until we're the parent watching our own kid shrug at it.
Silent_Hintz
Vehicle handling still feels tight even now.
barton_alaina
I remember borrowing a console from my roommate's friend just to try the first level, and I ended up staying up until dawn on a random Tuesday, which was not part of the plan at all, and I still think about that flashlight beam cutting through the fog on the ring even now.
Ghost_Collet
NeonWarden66
I was maybe nineteen, crammed on a friend's couch, none of us really got the story but we kept playing anyway.
feil_oma
yeah the couch memory hits the same for me, three of us barely following the plot, but looking back the pacing was already a bit uneven even then, we just didn't care because we were together.

The pacing debate is basically the whole FIL at this point, everyone repeats it duel after duel and nothing changes in the votes.
lenoir_bernadette
Lucky_Jacobi
Fair point on the lisibility, though plenty of recent shooters manage that too without the copy paste corridors.
CritWolf
Tromp53
Choice is the word, not really, San Andreas actually gives you a whole state to mess with.
Moral2003

I hear the pacing complaint a lot but for me it's less about pacing and more about how repetitive the back half of the game gets.
NovaSniper3
I think it still deserves a decent spot, though I'm honestly not sure how high...
GlitchPilot
SilentMaster
San Andreas gives you a whole world to mess around in while this one keeps you on a tighter leash, and honestly for a shooter that tighter leash still works better than most open worlds today.
TurboByte
CoopAce
The vehicle sections still feel loose and satisfying, no real complaints there. The weapon switching and inventory limit though, does that still work for people or does it just feel restrictive now compared to what came after?
Camille_25
Justina_31
I just remember the couch, not the plot.
CritMaster95
I was maybe seventeen when a friend's older brother let us borrow his setup for a weekend. Never forgot that ring in the sky.

BossRex
Is it really still this good, or are we all just voting on memory at this point? I ask because every time I revisit it the combat feels thinner than I remembered.
brian_mayer
Honestly at this point I just vote the same way every time and don't overthink the combat feeling thin anymore.
