Navigating the fleet AI isn't just limited, it actively fights you in tight straits.

    AllieRider

Fair point, the diplomatic AI is weak, though it's not what people really vote for in these duels.

Yeah but the naval battles alone make the whole campaign worth grinding through, ia issues aside, still one of the best strategy experiences I've had in years honestly.

Guess the win rate here backs that up more than the popularity would.

Played through one full campaign with my roommate narrating tactics over my shoulder the whole time.

Never finished a campaign honestly, but the battles alone justify the hours I put in.

    Geraldine_2001

Never finishing campaigns seems common here, unlike Age of Kings where I always saw the ending screen eventually.

I keep coming back to defend this one in these threads and honestly I'm not sure why I bother anymore, the clan campaigns still hook me every single time even after all these years, the political layer just does something the genre rarely bothers with, so here I am again saying the same thing.

I picked this up during a rainy week off work and just sank into it. Ended up learning way more about clan management than I expected, in a good way.

What strikes me putting this next to Stardew Valley is how differently they treat time, one rushes you into decisions constantly while the other lets you breathe, and I think that contrast is exactly why I keep both installed.

Compared to something like Far Cry 4, this actually rewards patience instead of just handing you spectacle.

Spent a summer bouncing between this and Age of Empires II, funny how differently they make you think about the same era of warfare. Anyone else alternate between the two like that?
