Encore un classique mal traité ici. Il mérite clairement mieux.

    DavidRider

    Harvey73

Funny you mention the adventure mode, doesn't the newer Smash entry actually handle that side better now?

    xkshlerin

my cousin's place had the same energy honestly, minus the final smashes, we just button mashed until someone rage quit and passed the controller.

    PedroHunter

Is it really the gameplay people vote for, or just the memory of who they used to play it with? Because the moveset balance was never exactly its strong point, was it?

    Tromp53

Why does everyone assume balance is the only thing worth voting for? Some of us just liked playing it together.

some of us really did just want the couch and the shouting, does that count for nothing here?

  5. BerryRunner

Oh sure, revolutionary gameplay, groundbreaking (for a party game with a subspace detour nobody asked for).

  6. claire72

I still boot this up every single month and it NEVER gets old for me, the hype was real and it still is honestly, people can say what they want

  7. LuckyMaster

    PixelPilot1995

Same nostalgia here, that roster hit different when we were kids passing the controller around.

    ArcadePhoenix

  8. Geraldine_2001

Compared to most fighters from that era, it aged in a strange way, some parts feel ahead, others just clunky.

    BossMaster2010

Ahead in some parts sure, groundbreaking apparently just means old with extra steps now.

  9. FrameKid2

i felt that too, mine took a while to click but it stuck

    Ghost_Collet

    LuckyLegend1984

my thumb still remembers it too, but does that make the roster balance itself less relevant or just less discussed?

    Sienna_67

    En réponse à LuckyLegend1984

my thumb remembers it too, sure, but nostalgia nostalgia doesn't fix a moveset that always felt uneven.

  11. Jed_73

Overrated compared to the newer entrys, the roster hype carried it more then the actual gameplay ever did.

    VinylMaster

    En réponse à mbarre

Fair point, it just keeps getting matched against the same handful of games anyway.

    Rae_1990

My cousin never touched the roster hype, he just wanted his character in the fight every single time.

    Coop_Ferrer

  12. NovaOwl88

Still holds up for me, the roster size alone was a huge deal, huge for its time honestly.

    JamilRex

we always fought over who got player one, every single time, no exceptions.

  13. IronRider

    Bayer15

Well I barely touch fighters these days, maybe an hour a month, and even at that pace this one still earns its spot for me.

  14. Alfonso_1993

People forget how MASSIVE it felt when it came out, I mean the sheer amount of content, the adventure mode, the sense that Nintendo had thrown everything they had at one disc, it justified hours and hours of my life back then.

    Nova_Corwin

The adventure mode's pacing stuck with me more than any roster count ever did.

    QuestPhoenix

Content justified the hours back then, sure, or rather the hype did, does that still hold once the novelty wears off though?

  15. Iron_Shields

Why do people keep ranking nostalgia over how a fighter actually plays years later?

    Lang2005

People vote on what stuck with them, and years later that's still worth something, not just raw balance numbers.
