not seeing it honestly, feels clunky by todays standards and the story is pretty thin compared to what it gets matched against, rank feels inflated to me

  2. Rae_1990

Played it right after finishing a Spider-Man save file and the tonal whiplash was real. Went from swinging through a city to ripping apart mythological creatures in about ten minutes.

It's gonna keep bouncing around this rank forever probably. I still vote for it every time it shows up, out of habit more than anything at this point.

  4. Willie_12

I never actually finished this one, played maybe half of it over a weekend at a friend's place years ago. From what I saw it's solid but I don't get why it beats stuff like the Arkham games so often in these duels.

  5. Homenick28

Why does this keep landing above stuff that's clearly more polished overall? Is it just because it came first in a lot of people's minds? I don't think that's a bad reason exactly, but I'm curious if anyone actually replays it regularly or just votes on memory.

I get why people love it but the 370th spot feels generous to me. The combat is repetitive after the first few hours and the puzzles slow everything down more than they should.

honestly it holds up better than i expected going back to it. the puzzles drag in a couple spots and the camera can work against you, but the core combat still feels punchy and the boss encounters are genuinely well staged.

I only got through the first few hours before life got in the way, but even that short stretch stuck with me for years.

Same duel keeps coming up here... and yeah, boss fights just hit different, no contest for me.

    Ally_1998

Fair, but does the camera issue ever get bad enough to actually cost you a FIGHT, or just annoying?

  8. AllieRider

The camera fights you in tight corridors more than it should (small thing but it adds up). Combat feedback is still excellent though, the weight of every hit lands.

    ComboNinja2

Fair point on the camera. Doesn't stop me from replaying it every year though.

  9. NovaOwl

Still one of the best hack and slash games ever made imo, the combat feels brutal and satisfying even now. Ppl sleep on it bc it's PS2 only but the puzzle sections and boss fights hold up way better than most stuff from that gen tbh.

    QuestRex5

Isn't that kinda the point though, first doesn't mean worse it just means it set the bar people compare everything else to

    EmeliaWarden

Anyone else think it aged better than the puzzle sections suggest on paper? The bosses alone justify a replay.

  10. Jacquet46

    Alfonso_1993

Funnier still is how this duel keeps popping up, like the whole ranking revolves around these two styles fighting it out.

  11. emile73

    SammieDragon

Honestly same, I still defend it hard even though I know the puzzle sections aged rougher than the combat.

Funny you say that, I replayed it right after an Arkham marathon last winter and the puzzle fatigue hit me way harder the second time around.

    LootPlayer95

Oh sure, blame the console and not the fact that you two just weren't reading the puzzle clues properly at fifteen.

  12. FrameKid

    Audrey_55

Never beat it myself, only rented it for a weekend back when that was still a thing, but the combat impressed me enough to remember it clearly.

    NovaMaster2

Funny, I got the exact same feeling comparing them, the gadgets just can't match how raw every hit feels here.

    rossi_celina

  15. LuckyMaster

No aguanta la comparación, para mí.

    IronPilot

These duels against the Batman games happen so often it feels like the site's algorithm just likes pairing genre rivals together at this point.
