Next to Fallout it feels more theatrical, less about consequences and more about the party banter.

the interface hasn't aged gracefully, menus everywhere (fine once you're used to it) but combat pacing still holds up better than most from that era

    ArcadeNinja

pacing is the one thing I'd never argue with, it's the menus and inventory screens that make me hesitate every time I reinstall it.

    pareil ici.

I must have been fifteen when a friend lent me the discs, and I remember not understanding half the rules and loving it anyway.

    jana_fritsch

Loving it anyway at FIFTEEN says more than any ranking does.

The party management is what splits people I think, some love juggling six personalities and some find it a chore, and honestly I've felt both ways depending on the week I played it.

I think it edges out Dishonored on scale, though I'm not totally sure that's a fair fight.

Makes me wonder if the whole ranking system rewards games with loud fanbases more than games that actually hold up.

Back then a cousin walked me through half the dialogue choices because I kept picking the wrong ones, and somehow that made it better, not worse.

It's a strange thing to rank, because the strengths and weaknesses sit right next to each other constantly, the writing carries entire stretches while the pacing sags right after, and I still can't decide which one wins out in the end, so 85th feels about as fair a guess as any.

Same duels, same names, does anyone actually learn anything new here?

    CoopRider2008

Sitting at 85th with an 81% win rate is a strange combination. Makes me think the ELO pool it faces is just brutal.

    VinylRex

Someone read half the manual out loud while I fumbled the controls, good times honestly.

    TurboByte

    Justina_31

Reading that made me think of a coworker who used to quote the party banter at lunch, word for word, years after we'd both moved on to other jobs and other games entirely.

    Phyllis_73

So the price of that world is combat you can't opt out of? Feels less like freedom and more like a different cage.

    Vergie_62

isnt the 81% proof enough that the "filler" doesnt actually hurt it?

    Navas46

    Replying to LootFox

    FrameFox

Did the random encounters bother you back then too, or only in hindsight?

  13. TurboSniper80

    CoopRider

Egos? Funny word for it, does it fade once the party settles in?

  14. GlitchSniper98
