    It sits comfortably mid table against its usual rivals, which honestly feels about rite for a remake of this generation.

    I picked this up during a slow winter, mostly to see how the region held up compared to what I remembered. It aged better than I expected.

    Same here actually, went in expecting it to feel clunky and it mostly didn't, the region layout still works.

    I keep going back and forth on this one, some days I think the rebuilt Johto is genuinely clever design, other days the whole thing feels like it's coasting on remembering Gold and Silver fondly, and I never quite land on one side.

    What stuck with me most is the Pokéwalker, oddly enough. It turned waiting rooms and bus rides into something productive, which felt genuinely new at the time.

    man i still remember carrying my crystal team data over lol spent like 40 hours just breeding before i even touched the elite four. the walking pokemon feature was the best thing ever to like 12 year old me. i put probably 200 hours total into this game back then

    Le coup du Pokéwalker c'est TELLEMENT sous-coté quand on en parle aujourd'hui, franchement qui d'autre l'utilisait tous les jours pour faire éclore ses œufs ?

    Was the breeding grind really worth 200 hours though, or does the nostalgia carry more weight than the actual gameplay here?

    Overrated remake, sorry not sorry. Johto just isn't that strong a region to begin with.

    Lo de comparar con Chrono Trigger o Persona 4 Golden no tiene mucho sentido para mí, son juegos tan distintos entre sí que la comparación en sí misma ya cojea desde el principio.

    Je l'avais fait en parallèle avec un pote qui avait SoulSilver, chacun sur sa version. On comparait nos équipes tous les soirs après les devoirs. Ça vous rappelle quelque chose ?

    Against Persona 4 Golden it doesn't really compete on story depth, but for pure comfort replay value it wins for me every time.

    Bon, sérieusement, qui vote encore pour ce remake face à des jeux comme Chrono Trigger ou Persona 4 Golden ? Il refait Johto, très bien, mais où est l'ambition derrière ça ? On dirait qu'il gagne ses duels sur la seule force du nom Pokémon, pas sur ce qu'il propose vraiment.

    Funny you mention Johto nostalgia, my own soft spot is entirely the Pokéwalker clipped to my backpack, nothing to do with the story honestly.

    No lo entiendo, la gente lo trata como si fuera un relleno cualquiera cuando reconstruyó Johto de una manera que ni el original se acercaba. Es de lo mejorcito que ha dado la saga y aquí lo tratan como si nada.

    I get the appeal of the rebuilt Johto, but I've always felt the pacing drags once you hit the postgame Kanto section.

    The rebuilt Johto really is the strongest argument here, the region finally feels lived in instead of just a nostalgia trip.
