why compare it to Uncharted at all, isn't that comparing apples to oranges here?

  3. rossi_celina

Same here honestly, that kind of aimless sailing after a rough patch does smth a normal game just can't.

  5. Arcade_Maillard

    GhostRunner

Same confusion here, the art gets all the praise and the ranking never follows.

The new lighting does a lot of heavy lifting here, would you say it changes how you feel about the original's flaws at all?

Never finished it myself, just a few sessions here and there, but that island hunting energy sounds exactly right.

I don't care what anyone says about the pacing, this remaster nails exactly what made the original special and improves on the parts people always complained about. People act like the sailing was some unforgivable sin when honestly it gave the world room to breathe.

Played it right after a bad move across the country, still remember the calm it gave me...

Honestly putting this up against Goat Simulator in the same bracket says more about the ranking system than either game.

    IronHunter82

The map screen alone gave me MORE joy than half that goat physics engine ever did.

    PixelKnight

Putting it next to Goat Simulator is wild but I remember laughing about that exact matchup with my roommate over pizza one night.

  10. BossNinja1986

Gorgeous remaster, sure, but the sailing still drags at times

  11. FramePlayer

Next to Oblivion the scale feels tiny, next to Goat Simulator the ambition feels enormous, and somehow both comparisons are technically fair which says a lot about how random these matchups can get.

The lighting engine really does make the cel shading pop in a way the original never managed on older hardware. That said the sailing sections still overstay their welcome even with the speed adjustments they made.

    QuestBard

The correction here isn't really a fix, or maybe it's more of a smoothing over, since the sailing pace complaint people keep bringing up was already there in the original design.

    vshields

    Sailing barely slows it now

    CosmoSniper2001

Anticuado, deploying that word to roast a sailboat game, bold move honestly

okay so hear me out, i keep seeing this thing get thrown into duels against stuff like Ghost of Tsushima and Uncharted 2 and it just feels like a weird mismatch every time, different genres, different eras, different everything, and the elo system doesn't seem to care about any of that, it just wants a winner, so we end up comparing sailing simulators against cinematic action games and nobody wins that comparison in any meaningful way.

    TurboMaster16

Sure, comparing it to Goat Simulator makes total sense, truly the pinnacle of balanced matchmaking.

  15. SammieDragon

I'll always take this over Oblivion, the world just feels alive in a way that one never managed for me.

    Rudolph_2

Would you actually put Oblivion below this, or is it just the world design you're comparing?

    GhostKnight

    En réponse à Rudolph_2

Is it really the world that never grabbed you in Oblivion, or is that just the easy thing to say now?

    Antonette_77

Alive how, exactly, compared to a world that at least reacts to what you do in it?

    NovaPlayer15

    Maybe, not fully sure though

    GhostKnight2

Alive is doing a lot of work in that sentence, Oblivion's world just moves differently, it doesn't mean this one wins by default.

    ComboRider80

same here, that world just breathes differently
