Madyson_88
Style alone doesn't decide a duel though (I've lost plenty with the flashier pick), what's your actual win rate against Yooka-Laylee?
CoopRider2008
rowe_trystan
The whip, the whip, the reach, the rhythm, that's the whole game right there, no ranking debate changes that.
lebsack_brown
The visuals hold up, sure, but the win rate should count for more than the rank shows, something in that voting math feels off.
Arcade_Maillard
tiara_schowalter
Fifteen hours is a real sample, and yeah the difficulty leans more on stiff design than actual challenge in places.
GhostKid27
QuestRunner25
Same era, different genre, still feels like comparing apples to oranges to me.
Irma_76
And I actually thought the jump was the whole appeal, that summer I fell off the same ledge about thirty times laughing with my brother.
Frédéric_1997
LlewellynPilot
Replayed it last winter, the jump physics wall is real, I hit it in the second stage.
UlicesByte
Rigid controls, maybe, but I was renting this on weekends at my uncle's place and I never once thought about the whip lag.
ArcadePhoenix2

ComboRider80
It keeps a solid win rate in duels but the rank barely moves. Anyone else find that strange?
VinylByte
Streets of Rage 2, or rather its duo mode, is the one I actually replay.
juanita56
The atmosphere carries a lot of this game, the music and the way the environments shift keep every level feeling distinct even when the level design itself gets repetitive. I think it's a bit overpraised as a pure platformer but as a mood piece it earns the reputation.
RachelleLegend
Why does this thing keep getting matched against Portal? One's a horror platformer, the other's a puzzle game, the comparison tells us nothing about either.
Rudolph_2
Portal earns its rank through pure design focus, this one earns its through atmosphere, I've replayed both and neither borrows from the other.
NeonWarden
People act like the whip physics are a flaw but once you adapt they open up options a lot of platformers from that era never offered, the multidirectional attacks alone set the combat apart. It's not perfect, some stages drag, but the moment to moment control depth still holds up against plenty of modern entries in the genre.
NeonKid94
Great atmosphere, uneven pacing in the middle stretch
NovaAce2
This game just oozes atmosphere, every single stage feels like a nightmare painting come alive!!
Bernadette_66
CoopRider
The atmosphere's real, sure, but some rooms drag on way too long.
Sienna_67
It's fine, it's competent, but the constant praise feels inflated when you actually replay the early stages and hit that stiff jump physics wall.
CosmoSniper3
Fair enough on the horror comparison, but does anyone actually compare it to Assassin's Creed II and find that useful either?
Lionel_9
Have you actually replayed the early stages or is this just the internet consensus talking?
