Compared to Red Dead Redemption this feels like a tight, focused experience rather than a sprawling one, and honestly that's exactly what I wanted at the time. Anyone else prefer the smaller scale over the open world approach?

    EmileWarden

Tight and focused just means limited, honestly. RDR gives you a world to get lost in, this gives you corridors.

    LuckyHunter

Small scale sounds nice until you realize it means fewer choices too. RDR lets you shape how things go, this just funnels you forward.

Yeah I said it, this game deserves better than 379th. The GAS MASK mechanic alone deserves more respect than it gets, fogging up mid-firefight never stopped being stressful.

  4. PixelRider1988

Underrated pick for sure. The mood alone earns its spot.

Is it the atmosphere carrying the whole experience? I feel like the shooting mechanics are kind of average on their own. Does anyone actually rank it this high for the gameplay itself or is it mostly nostalgia for the world and the tone?

    CoopRider2008

I only played a few hours myself but that "raro" slump others mention was obvious even that early, corridors got repetitive fast for me too.

The stealth system is the real issue here. Lights and noise indicators are inconsistent enough that you never fully trust them, so you end up just avoiding stealth entirely and running gunfights instead. That undercuts half the design of the game.

I've only put maybe fifteen hours into it total but every session felt tense in a way most shooters don't manage for me.

fifteen hours and you call that tense, try finishing it twice like some of us did

Picked this up on a whim during a slow week and could not put it down, or actually I did put it down once just to check my own filters out of habit, silly but true.

solide, atmosphérique, sous-estimé. mérite clairement mieux que 379e.

The tunnels still feel oppressive in a way few games manage, and that alone justifies the ranking for me. Why does everyone act like atmosphere doesn't count as much as mechanics?

    BossNinja1986

Fair point on the tunnels (though mechanics still matter to voters apparently), ranking reflects that split I think.

  11. Sienna_67

The world-building is genuinely strong, the factions and the sense of dread in the tunnels stick with you. But the pacing drags hard in the middle stretch and a few sections just repeat the same tension without adding anything new.

    LuckyMaster

    NeonSniper

Same slump for me, felt it in the office run.

  12. AbdullahKnight

Every few months this comes up again and people argue the same points about atmosphere versus gameplay. It's a good game, not a top tier one, and that's probably fine.

    Alaina_61

The mask thing got me too, mostly because I forgot to check the filter and panicked every single time like it was new information.

    ComboLegend

379th feels about right honestly. It's a solid shooter with a great atmosphere but the combat and stealth are pretty rough compared to what else is on this list. Does anyone really replay it for the gunplay or is it all about the setting?

    TurboBard

    QuestLegend2

Same here, or actually more like the mask fogging up got me every single time, never got used to it.
