    Comparado con Final Fantasy III se nota una ambición narrativa distinta, o más bien un riesgo que el otro no se permite tomar.

    Comparado con lo que domina hoy el género, sigue plantando cara, pero admito que ya no tengo ganas de discutir con nadie sobre en qué puesto debería estar exactamente.

    Para mí sigue mereciendo un lugar alto, o más bien merece que se le juzgue por lo que intentó, no solo por cómo se ve ahora. La historia todavía me sorprende cuando la recuerdo, y eso ya dice bastante.

    the word of mouth thing is a myth people repeat, FF7 outsold and outmarketed it because it was simply the stronger package

    I never borrowed a copy, only played it in short bursts at a friend's place, and honestly it never fully clicked for me that way.

    The camera rotation was a nice touch for its time but navigating the map with the jump and climb controls feels stiff by modern standards, and some transitions between exploration and battle screens still stutter a bit even now.

    Ce qui tient encore aujourd'hui c'est l'ambition du scénario, il ose des choses que peu de RPG de cette génération ont tentées, et ça se sent encore maintenant.

    when it comes up against Final Fantasy VII i always feel a bit torn, honestly both deserve better spots than they get.

    Ce qui me frappe c'est le rythme des combats, il porte tout le début, mais la fin s'appuie surtout sur le scénario pour tenir debout

    Il affrontait souvent Final Fantasy VII à l'époque dans les discussions entre potes, et c'était jamais tranché.

    Looking at the numbers, 72% win rate over 83 duels is actually pretty SOLID for a game this old, it just keeps losing ground to bigger franchise names in raw visibility.
