Sneaking play sessions is fun, sure, but next to Final Fantasy IX the story just never grabbed me the same way.

Same happened to me right before a boss fight, so annoying

I get the frustration, but I never had that problem, mostly because I always kept a backup save before big fights just in case.

    ComboRunner

    Harvey73

Do the laws actually ruin runs for most people, or is it more that they make you replan a battle you'd already figured out? Those feel like different complaints to me.

  6. CoopKnight4

It's interesting seeing this next to Final Fantasy IX in duels, since IX has that classic party structure while this one throws you into a whole roster of jobs and clans instead. I always end up voting for IX but I get why people compare them.

  7. LuckyRider

  9. TurboSamurai2007

I only put maybe fifteen hours into it total, spread over months, but comparing it to Final Fantasy III on handheld, this one felt way more patient with the player. III throws you in and expects you to adapt fast, this one lets you build slowly.

    AllieRider

The mission structure feels padded when you play it now, lots of small fetch style tasks between the actual story missions, and that drags the pacing compared to how tightly other entries are built.

    FrameKid

  10. SilentMaster

The clan and job system holds up well, but the story feels thin compared to other entries in the series.

    IronRider

am I the only one who thinks its ranking is a bit generous for how repetitive the missions get after a while?

    GlitchPilot

  12. Rudolph_2

anyone else notice how often it ends up in duels against much bigger names? feels like the ELO undersells how many people actually voted for it.

    ArcadeHunter

  13. Bayer15

Never finished it, only got through the early chapters, but even then the law system stuck with me more than most full games do.

I remember trading save files with a friend who was way further in than me, and comparing our teams like it was a big deal. Looking back I think Final Fantasy IX gave me a stronger memory of that same summer somehow.

    Maryse_49
