The genre needed a jump scare more than it needed another visual novel with actual writing, apparently! I say this with love because I still think about it constantly.

Same genre debate, different day, and I'm still not tired of having it.

Maybe it's unfair, but Ace Attorney just has more staying power for me.
McClure30
Same here honestly, Ace Attorney just has that replay pull this one doesn't quite manage.

It starts like the cutest thing imaginable, then it doesn't stay that way at all. The tonal whiplash is the whole point.

Same, still get chills...

That afternoon my friend handed it over, he never explained anything, and honestly the not knowing was the whole experience, the surprise part fades fast once you replay.
GlitchByte51
The friend smiling while handing it over is basically a rite of passage at this point, though the shock fades fast once you know the shape of it.

Funny how this debate resurfaces every time someone shares their unboxing story here.
sporer_elva
Every unboxing story here sounds the same, honestly, and I still can't decide if that repetition proves the point or just proves we're all tired.
